Alasdair was born in Cape Breton , Nova Scotia . He served in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for twenty years, performing various duties in several areas of Alberta . While serving in the R.C.M.P., Alasdair was trained in principled negotiation and mediation. Also while in the R.C.M.P., he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick .
Alasdair has worked with the Natural Resources Conservation Board of Alberta, and developed a mediation program and policy for that Board.
Alasdair completed the Conflict Management Program through the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society in both mediation and negotiation, with an emphasis on family mediation.
Alasdair is certified in arbitration through the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society. He also holds the designation of Registered Family Mediator through the Alberta Family Mediation Society, and that of Chartered Mediator through the ADR Institute of Canada. Alasdair specializes in family, civil, and environmental mediation.
Alasdair currently lives in Red Deer , Alberta with his wife, daughter, Border Collie, and two horses.
